Our Story

Hi there, I’m Kayla McShea, the owner of Yours, Florally. Since buying our house in 2020 with a perfect backyard for a garden, I had dreams of a cute veggie garden and some flowers for cutting to sit on my island. My original 4 raised bed veggie garden (thanks Covid for all the time for projects) grew exponentially with dahlias and then I doubled the number of beds the following year. I found so much joy and solace by fiddling in the garden and dreaming about how I could make it even better. My husband (Brian) so graciously helped me cut up grass (with a rented sod cutter that took us a solid 2 hours to figure out exactly how to use!) and we created 4 more flower beds around our property. I was hooked, and also watching “Growing Floret” on Discovery+ on repeat to better fuel my desires.

Yours, Florally was born in 2022 from a dream and an abundance of dahlia tubers. I was 6 months pregnant with my daughter, when I  took my tubers from storage. The realization hit me that the amount of flowers I was planning to plant that season was just an absurd amount for a backyard cutting garden.

When figuring out how to fit 150+ dahlias, and the hundreds of seedlings I grew in my little pop-up greenhouse on the deck (thanks Hubby!) into my 300 sq ft of planting space, my mind went back to my childhood when we would help my grandmother tend her garden. Weeding the rows, and picking tomatoes, cucumbers, and corn, in this lovely garden on her property just one mile down the street from my new house. On one of my weekly visits, I asked her if she would mind if I planted some flowers in her garden, and with the quick and simple, “of course!” the potential for a little business was really possible, and getting very exciting.

The night before my induction, Brian and I planted every one of those flowers, 176 dahlias, and over 200 seedlings of celosia, amaranth, and zinnias. In that first season, I designed my first wedding, made arrangements for friends, family, and acquaintances, and had my first group of bouquet subscriptions. The fire was ignited, and the dreams just kept coming.

Yours, Florally is now a quarter acre flower farm with seasonal blooms from April to October. The current operation of the business focuses on bouquet subscriptions, selling to florists and designers, and DIY buckets for brides and events. Weddings, showers, and other events are limited in our current capacities, but please contact us to discuss your needs and see if we can be the perfect fit for you.
